PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve work efficiency by shortening a layout time of a metal die to be arranged corresponding to a bending sequence in a bending machine. SOLUTION: The bending machine is equipped with metal die retreat sections 1, 2, 3, 4 attached to either one side or both sides of an upper and a lower tables 20, 21, metal dies C, A, B, D necessary for bending work arranged in the designated order corresponding to the bending sequence in the longitudinal direction of the upper and lower tables 20, 21 and the metal die retreat sections 1, 2, 3, 4, and metal die transfer sections 5, 6, 7, 8 which transfer the metal dies C, A, B, D necessary for bending work to the longitudinal direction of the upper and lower tables 20, 21 and the metal die retreat sections 1, 2, 3, 4 keeping the designated sequence in order to achieve the desirable metal die layout decided corresponding to the bending sequence.
