Provided is an ink composition which can achieve an image being free from the occurrence of blurring and being excellent in the glossy property, particularly, in the gloss in the case wherein a special-purpose paper is used. An ink composition for use in an inkjet recoding method, which contains at least a coloring agent, water and a surfactant, wherein the above surfactant satisfies the following formula (1): ß - a = 0, wherein (i) a (degree) represents a contact angle of an aqueous solution containing 0.1 wt % of the above surfactant to the above recording medium after 0.3 seconds, and (ii) ß(degree) represents a contact angle of an aqueous solution containing 0.1 wt. % of the above surfactant, 20 wt % of glycerol, 10 wt % of 1,2-hexanediol and 1.0 wt % of triethanolamine to the above recording medium after 0.3 seconds. |
