PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding method and a cylindrical grinder, grinding the end face of a work at high grade without any increase in scale of the whole cylindrical grinder and without complicating grinding work. SOLUTION: According to this grinding method, the peripheral surface 22 of a cylindrical part 21 and the end face 24 of a flange part 23 in a work 20 having the cylindrical part 21 and the flange part 23 connected to the cylindrical part 21 are ground by this cylindrical grinder using a grinding wheel 10, the end face of which is formed to have a back taper. A dimensional change in the Z-axis direction in the end face 14 of the grinding wheel 10 is calculated from a dimensional change of outside diameter of the grinding wheel 10, and the correction based upon the calculated value is made to grind the end face 24 under the drive control in the Z-axis direction of the grinding wheel 10 to the work 20.
