摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an optically active alcohol in a high yield and stereoselectively, by using Lewis acid catalyst having a ligand optically active in an aqueous solution and asymmetric ring-opening reaction of a mesoepoxide heterocyclic compound. <P>SOLUTION: The asymmetric ring-opening reaction of a mesoepoxide heterocyclic compound proceeds in a high yield and stereoselectively so as to produce an optically active alcohol compound represented by formula (1) or formula (2) by using an asymmetric catalyst comprising a Lewis acid and an optically active bipyridine compound.
