POSITIVE ACTIVE MATERIAL, ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD, AND NONAQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE SECONDARY BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive active material enhancing chemical stability, its manufacturing method, and to provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the positive active material and having high capacity and high charge discharge characteristics.

SOLUTION: A positive electrode 2 has the positive active material. The positive active material has a covering layer formed in at least one part of a composite oxide particle and comprising an oxide containing lithium (Li) and a covering element of nickel (Ni) or nickel (Ni) and manganese (Mn), and a surface layer formed in at least one part of the covering layer and containing vanadium (V).
