The invention relates to a portable computer input device (01) that the user can freely hold in one hand when inputting data. Said computer input device (01) comprises a housing (03) and an input unit which allows a virtual pointer to be controlled in a computer application. The inventive computer input device further comprises a feedback unit which causes at least one touch area (06) to be variably deflected relative to the housing (03), said deflection depending on the position of the virtual pointer within a space defined by the computer application. The invention also relates to a method for interactively controlling a computer application.
