PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the life of a UV discharge tube used in an UV pulse emitting device and predict the remaining number of times of discharges by counting an electric energy from the capacitance and the set voltage of a capacitor and collating the counted numerical value with the reference electric energy of a reference discharge tube already having the life identified. SOLUTION: The UV pulse emitting device 1 comprises the capacitor 9 to which a power is supplied from a transformer 6 and a diode 7, the UV discharge tube 11, a trigger circuit 15 for exciting ultraviolet, a voltage detection circuit 8, and a control circuit 4. The CPU of the control circuit 4 is connected to the MPU 20 of an external device 2 through a communication means 3. The MPU 20 of the external device 2 comprises a set voltage input means 22 and a display means 23. Consequently, the CPU calculates the integrated electric energy and the life from predetermined calculation expressions for each pulse emission, and displays or informs the results by the display means 23 of the MPU 20.
