1. A method for an evolved universal terrestrial radio access network comprising:
inserting an indication of a type of cyclic prefix length into a transmission comprising a downlink reference signal, wherein the type of cyclic prefix length is one of normal cyclic prefix length and extended cyclic prefix length; and using one type of cyclic prefix length in sending the transmission; wherein the type of cyclic prefix length is the used one type of cyclic prefix length; and wherein inserting the indication comprises using at least one field indicative of the type of cyclic prefix length in initialization of a scrambling sequence, and using the obtained scrambling sequence in generating the downlink reference signal.
