PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin and light weight as well as flexible liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method for the same.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device 1 is composed of a first light transmission plate 11 and a second light transmission plate 12 facing each other and a liquid crystal layer 13 formed with liquid crystal sealed in between the first light transmission plate 11 and the second light transmission plate 12 and includes: a liquid crystal cell 10 provided with pixels corresponding to three elementary colors of RGB; optical waveguides 21 for respectively propagating each color of the three elementary colors of RGB; and a light source 22 for emitting lights of the three original colors RGB3 to the optical waveguide 21. The optical waveguides 21 are formed in a structure integrated with the first light transmission plate 11 to correspond to lines or rows of respective pixels of RGB in the liquid crystal cell 10 on a surface on the opposite side to the second light transmission plate 12 on the first light transmission plate 11. |
