The invention relates to a device making it possible, with great sensitivity, to detect the variations in the coefficient of thermal exchange by convection between a detector and a fluid, especially in the case of changing from a natural convection regime to a forced convection regime or of a change in the nature of the surrounding fluid, the detector consisting of a metal wire of very slender cross-section heated by the passage of an electric current. This detector is associated with an electrical and electronic circuit which carries out the functions of detection as well as the self-test of the detector. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for anti-intrusion or anti-theft alarm systems for dwellings, public or private buildings, vehicles.
