摘要 PURPOSE:To set the value of a current which flows in a corona discharger by fuzzy inference by calculating a belonging degree to the set of controlled variable from the belonging degree to the set of the detected quantity of state according to respective rules and inferring the controlled variable having the highest possibility so that a device may be controlled. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 81 controls the respective component devices according to a control program stored in a ROM 82. Then, ambient humidity is measured by a humidity sensor 60 and, at the same time, the density of an original is detected, for example, by the surface potential sensor 61 of a photosensitive drum. By using the data, the belonging degree to the fuzzy set of the controlled variable is calculated from belonging degree to the fuzzy set of the quantity of state according to the respective fuzzy rules, and next the sum-set of the sets belonging to the respective rules is calculated, then the controlled variable having the highest possibility is calculated by obtaining the centroid of the sum-set. The obtained centroid is set as the value of the current of an output which is supplied to an external electrostatic charger. Thus, the value of the current which flows in the corona discharger is set by the fuzzy inference.
