The invention relates to a thin strip or sheet of refined aluminium of purity greater than 99.9 %, which is intended for the production of electrolytic capacitor anodes. According to the invention, the 10 nm-deep surface area of the strip or sheet comprises aluminium carbide, the atomic content thereof ranging between 5 and 25 % and, preferably, between 10 and 20 %.
