Provided is a secondary battery to prevent the excessive breakage of a can owing to the breakage of a vent, thereby preventing the damage of an electrode assembly and/or an electrode tap. A secondary battery comprises an electrode assembly; a can in which the electrode assembly is accommodated; and a cap assembly which is provided with a cap plate(110) combined with the upper part of the opened can, wherein a vent(200) is formed between the two neighbouring corner parts of the wide side surface(11a) of the can. Preferably the vent has the shape of rectangle of which one side is opened, and the opened part is toward the center of the wide side. |
