<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select, at a receiving terminal, a video stream to be supplied from the transmitting end between one having a high resistance to transmission error and one having a high video quality, according to the user's preference. <P>SOLUTION: A server 100a is provided with a data storage unit 120 which holds a plurality video streams having different I-frame intervals, as coded data corresponding to the same image sequence, and a data transmission unit 110 for transmitting a prescribed video stream among the plurality of video streams, according to a command signal Sc from a receiving terminal.
