PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tapered roller bearing for reducing torque loss due to flow resistance of lubricating oil in the bearing while preventing seizure between the large collar face of an inner ring and the large end face of a tapered roller. SOLUTION: A cutout 7 is provided in a small annular portion 5b of a trapezoidal pocket 5a of a cage 5 for quickly releasing lubricating oil flowing from the inner diameter side of the cage 5 into the inner ring side, from the cutout 7 at the narrow side of the pocket 5a storing the tapered roller 4 at its small diameter side to the outer ring side, to reduce the amount of the lubricating oil flowing along the raceway surface of the inner ring to the large collar face and residing in the bearing and reduce torque loss due to the flow resistance of the lubricating oil. The ratio R/R<SB>BASE</SB>of a curvature radius R of the large end face 4a of the tapered roller 4 to a distance R<SB>BASE</SB>from the peak of the cone angle of the tapered roller 4 to the large collar face of the inner ring is set to be 0.75-0.87 so that a sufficient oil film can be formed between the large collar face of the inner ring and the large end face 4a of the tapered roller 4 to prevent seizure therebetween.
