PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive which is new and improved, and has a turbulence reduction plate. SOLUTION: A method for assembling a disk drive includes processes for placing a plurality disks on a spindle (710), and pivoting a turbulence reduction plate to a position between the plurality of disks on the spindle (712). The turbulence reduction plate is placed on a pivot associated with the housing (714) and then rotated in a prescribed position. The turbulence reduction plate is attached to the housing and a cover is placed on the housing to form a disk enclosure which encloses the turbulence reduction plate (716).
