PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive latching mechanism as a latching mechanism having a necessary and sufficient function to hold an actuator of a magnetic disk drive and including a latch formed in a one-piece structure. SOLUTION: The latching mechanism to be used in a magnetic disk drive includes: a hook, for latching an actuator; and a latch lever main body in which a bar to be pressed in a closing direction, by an actuator at a home position is formed vertically downward, wherein the latch lever has a steel pin to bias the latch in an opening direction by a magnetic force.
