An isolated variant of an antimicrobial peptide having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2, comprising a substitution at one or more positions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, and 21 of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2; wherein the variant has antimicrobial activity, and the number of substitutions is 1-11.
