Ethernet switch and communication method

An Ethernet switch which is connected to a plurality of external devices using an encapsulating I/O protocol over Ethernet, and is connected to a I/O protocol switch using N_Port ID virtualization includes: a storage unit which stores destination information describing an external device whose connection is established in the FCoE in the plurality of external devices; and a processor. When the processor receives a packet addressed from a first external device to a second external device in the external devices, the processor checks whether or not the destination information describes the second external device. When the second external device is described in the destination information, the processor transmits the packet to the second external device.

1. An Ethernet switch which is connected to a plurality of external devices using an encapsulating I/O protocol over Ethernet, and is connected to an I/O protocol switch using N_Port ID virtualization, the Ethernet switch comprising:
a first port which is connected to a first external device; a second port which is connected to a second external device; a third port which is connected to the I/O protocol switch; a storage unit which stores destination information describing an external device whose connection is established in the encapsulating I/O protocol over Ethernet in the plurality of external devices; and a processor, wherein: when the processor receives a packet, from the first port, that is addressed from the first external device to the second external device in the external devices and for which the I/O protocol switch has been set as a next destination device, the processor checks whether or not the destination information describes the second external device; and when the second external device is described in the destination information, the processor transmits the packet from the second port to the second external device.
