Bowfishing reel with automatic bail open

A bowfishing reel system that can use a standard reel or a normally biased open reel each having a lever that when actuated forces the bail into the open state. A mechanical coupling, such as a string is connected between the lever of the reel and the bow cable or bow string. When the bow is drawn, the mechanical couple causes the lever to be actuated and thus forcing the reel into the open state. As such, when a user goes to shoot an arrow at a target, as soon as the bow is drawn the bail is opened thus preventing back lash and injury.

1. A reel for use in bowfishing comprising:
a bail that can be moved between an open position at which line can be fed freely, and a closed position at which the line is not fed; a lever that is mechanically coupled to the bail such that when the lever is actuated in a first direction the bail is forced into an opened position; and an actuating string that is attached at one end to the lever and at an other end to a cable of a bow, the actuating string being adjustable to different lengths such that when the bow is drawn to a particular position by applying force to the cable, the actuating string can be adjusted to ensure that the lever is actuated thus forcing the bail into the open position.
