摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording material in an optical recording medium which is adoptable to a DVD-R disk system using a semiconductor laser having the oscillating wavelength in a shorter wavelength compared with a conventional system, and is excellent in light-resistance and preservation stability especially in a conventional optical recording medium using a trimethine cyanin coloring matter. SOLUTION: For this optical recording medium, a recording layer is provided on a substrate. In such an optical recording medium, an azo metal chelate compound comprising the trimethine cyanin coloring matter and an azo compound represented by general formula (I), is contained by a weight ratio of 90:10 to 10:90 for the percentage of the trimethine cyanin coloring matter : the azo metal chelate compound. In general formula (I), R1 and R2 each represent a substituent which is directly bonded with a triazine ring. R3 to R6 each represent a substituent which is directly bonded with a benzene ring (another aromatic ring may be condensed in the benzene ring). Z represents a substituent having an active hydrogen group.
