<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of inflexibility of response to a request of a transmission system with respect to a conventional dispersion compensating device which has a large size and a large optical loss, and of which a compensation dispersion amount is fixed. <P>SOLUTION: A metallic film is deposited on front and rear face of a dispersing medium and used as a mirror, and an incoming window and an outgoing window are formed at the mirror. Then, the number of reflection is controlled by adopting the shape of the outgoing window, of which the outgoing position is shifted in accordance with the shifted amount when the optical axis is fixed and the position of dispersing medium is made changed, and thereby the amount of dispersion is made variable. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
