VIDEO DISPLAY DEVICE

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device which provides a video image by superposing it on an image in an external world and by which observation of the video image is easy and it is hard to cause fatigue of eyes without depending on brightness of the external world.

SOLUTION: The video display device (3) is provided with: a liquid crystal display element (11) which displays the video image; a light source (12) which provides the display element (11) with illumination light; a half mirror (15) which superposes video light (L1) from the display element (11) on light (L2) from the external world to guide it to the eyes (E); a liquid crystal shutter (16) which attenuates light from the external world; a control part (21) which controls emission luminance of the light source (12); a control part (22) which controls transmission of the shutter (16); a detection part (26) which detects luminance of the external world; and an interlocking control part (23) which controls the control parts (21, 22) according to a detection result of the detection part (26) to adjust the luminance of the video image to be provided and the image of the external world. The interlocking control part (23) makes difference between the luminance of the video image and the luminance of the image of the external world be always fixed without depending on the luminance of the external world.
