<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform accurate trapezoidal distortion correction regardless of the installed state of a projection display apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A projection display apparatus comprises: a display panel 4 adapted to generate an image; a projection lens 5 adapted to project the image generated by the display panel 4; a control unit (digital signal processing circuit 2, display driving circuit 3, controller 8) adapted to control the image generated by the display element 4; an acceleration sensor 10 adapted to issue an output changed depending on an inclination angle of the projection display apparatus; and a memory 11 adapted to store a plurality of horizontal reference values according to the installed state of the projection display apparatus.
