Provided is a video display system enabling a user to view and listen to video/audio by using various means. The video display system includes a video display device and a mobile video display device which are communicably connected to each other. The video display device generates video data for the local device and audio data for the local device as objects to be displayed and reproduced by the local video display device, displays the video data generated for the local device, and reproduces the audio data generated for the local device. Moreover, the video display device encodes the video data for the local device and the audio data for the local device into a data format which can be processed by the mobile video display device so as to generate video data for other device and audio data for other device and transmits them to the mobile video display device. The mobile video display device receives the transmitted video data for the other device and the audio data for the other device and decodes the video data for the other device and the audio data for the other device so as to reproduce them.
