PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state imaging apparatus capable of preventing image quality degradation because of external light emitted to the edge part of the transparent cover of a solid-state imaging element and external light propagated inside the transparent cover by a simple configuration, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A glass cover 60 formed so as to cover the entire surface of the imaging area 26 of the solid-state imaging element 10 is formed of a transmission part 60a corresponding to the imaging area 26 and an edge part 60b surrounding the transmission part 60a on the outer side of the transmission part 60a. The edge part 60b of the glass cover 60 is selectively removed over the entire periphery and thereby a truncated pyramid shape part whose cross sectional area monotonously decreases from a light emission side to a light incidence side is formed on the glass cover 60. On the outer surface of the truncated pyramid shape part, an optical functional film 63 having a light absorbing, a light reflecting or light scattering action is formed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
