PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector which allows a female terminal and a male terminal themselves to reduce an insertion force of the female terminal without adding any device to a housing to facilitate connection work. SOLUTION: A male terminal insertion portion 15 of the female terminal 11 has a contact board 25, an elastic piece 27 in the form of a cantilever, and a bracing piece 31 that is attached turnably to a free end of the elastic piece 27 via a hinge 29. When a tab 23 of the male terminal is inserted in between the contact board 25 of the female terminal 11 and the front end of the bracing piece 31, the bracing piece 31 is caused to turn as its front end is pushed by a projection 37 of the male terminal, which pushes up the elastic piece 27 to deform elastically. The extent of elastic deformation of the elastic piece 27 reaches the maximum at a point where the bracing piece 31 and the contact board 25 make a right angle. When the bracing piece 31 is turned to a point where an angleαbecomes an obtuse angle, a turn restraining unit 33 restrains the bracing piece 31 from turning further. The male terminal causes insertion friction only on the undersurface side of the tab 23 and does not causes the friction on the upper surface side.
