METHOD FOR PROTONATING HYDROGEN MOLECULE, HYDROGEN MOLECULE PROTONATION CATALYST AND HYDROGEN GAS SENSOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for protonating hydrogen molecules using a catalyst other than expensive noble metals which lie under the ground in small amounts, and to provide a hydrogen molecule protonation catalyst and a hydrogen gas sensor.

SOLUTION: The method for protonating hydrogen gas molecules comprises bringing hydrogen gas into contact with a surface of a solid having a relative dielectric constant of >78. The hydrogen gas sensor has a proton receiving layer comprising an organic compound of which the electric conductivity, photoconductivity or optical absorber changes by protonation on a substrate comprising the solid having a relative dielectric constant of >78, wherein the sensor detects hydrogen gas because electric resistivity changes by protonation.
