<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of efficiently sending air for cooling a lamp to a projector allowing both suspension from a ceiling and installation on a floor although having a relatively simple structure, and of extending the life of the lamp; and a projector using it. <P>SOLUTION: A spherical body BA is received by a valve seat 8b located on the lower side of the paper surface out of valve seats 8a and 8b. Thereby, an air guiding passage of a second branch tube 7b guiding cooling air to the lower side of an arc tube 1 against the gravity is shut off. Cooling air from an air-sending pump 9 is guided to an air guiding passage of a first branch tube 7a without being shut off for the valve seat 8a side. When this light source device is vertically reversed, the air guiding passage of the first branch tube 7a is shut off by the spherical body BA and the valve seat 8a in a branch part 6 in response to it. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
