The invention is directed to a process for the preparation of a cobalt-zinc oxide Fischer-Tropsch catalyst, which process comprises providing an aqueous dispersion of zinc oxide powder in a reactor, adding an aqueous solution of a cobalt salt and precipitating cobalt from the solution onto the zinc oxide by the addition of ammonium carbonate.
