<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid-crystal display device that has a simple constitution, high transmittance and excellent viewing angle characteristics without lowering the production latitude thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid-crystal display device has: a liquid-crystal layer (10) which satisfies 500 nm<Δnd<1,300 nm, and has, on the both outside portions of the liquid crystal cell placed at the center; the first optically-anisotropic layers (13a, 13b) of which the Re(550) are from 20 to 50 nm and which satisfy 3 nm≤Re[+40°]/Re[-40°]≤20 nm; the second optically-anisotropic layers (14a, 14b) which satisfy 0<¾Re(550)¾≤40 nm and satisfy 0 nm<Rth(550)<(Δnd of the liquid-crystal layer)/2; the third optically-anisotropic layers (15a, 15b) which satisfy 0<¾Re(550)¾≤300 nm and satisfy -100 nm<Rth(550)<(Δnd of the liquid-crystal layer)/2; and polarizers in this order. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
