PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method using a heat developable photosensitive material having general versatility in various different heat developing apparatuses. SOLUTION: In the image forming method of the heat developable photosensitive material with an image forming apparatus comprising an image exposure section and a heat developing section, (1) the heat developable photosensitive material contains two reducing agents different in activity, (2) a plurality of image forming apparatus are used, wherein the first image forming apparatus has a heat drum type heating means and heats the image forming layer surface of the heat developable photosensitive material, and the second image forming apparatus has a plate heater type heating means and heats a surface of the heat developable photosensitive material opposite to the image forming layer, and (3) when conditions giving an image density of 1.0 in the second image forming apparatus are considered to be a heat developing temperature T<SB>2</SB>and a heat developing time t<SB>2</SB>, and conditions in the first image forming apparatus are considered to be T<SB>1</SB>and t<SB>1</SB>, expression: T<SB>1</SB>×t<SB>1</SB>=α(T<SB>2</SB>×t<SB>2</SB>) (whereinα<1) is satisfied.
