PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a zinc sustained release ceramic which has high biocompatibility and is used for living bodies. SOLUTION: This zinc sustained release ceramic used for living bodies comprises tricalcium phosphate [Ca3(PO4)2] containing Zn in an amount of 0.0126 to 1.26 wt.%, preferably 0.06 to 0.70 wt.%, in a solid solution state. The zinc sustained release ceramic used for living bodies is obtained by adding hydroxyapatite and/or tricalcium phosphate to tricalcium phosphate containing Zn in an amount of 0.0150 to 8.00 wt.% in a solid solution state, and has a total Zn content of 0.0126 to 1.26 wt.%.
