PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting apparatus capable of efficiently producing a small lot cast slab while suppressing wasteful energy consumption, without producing wasteful cast slab, and to provide a method for operating the continuous casting apparatus.SOLUTION: A continuous casting apparatus 1 comprises: a first tundish 9 disposed at a first casting position C1; a first casting line 3; a second tundish 19 disposed at a second casting position C2 different from the first casting position C1; a second casting line 5; and ladle movement unit 7 configured to enable movement of a ladle 6, from a receiving position P1 receiving the ladle 6 in which molten steel is charged, from the outside, to both of a first pouring position P2 capable of pouring the molten steel into the first tundish 9 disposed at the first casting position C1 and a second pouring position P3 capable of pouring the molten steel into the second tundish 19 disposed at the second casting position C2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
