摘要 In the electro-optical device, a pillar-shaped protrusion is formed on an insulating film (a first insulating film) provided below a pixel electrode in the downward direction, and thus a conduction section of a second electrode layer (a conductive layer) overlaps the highest surface of the pillar-shaped protrusion. An inter-layer insulating film (a second insulating film) is provided between the second electrode layer and the pixel electrode, but the conduction section is exposed on a surface of the inter-layer insulating film. For this reason, the pixel electrode is electrically connected to the conduction section, when the pixel electrode is laminated on the inter-layer insulating film.

An electro-optical device comprising: a pixel electrode provided over one side of a substrate; a conductive layer provided between the substrate and the pixel electrode, the conductive layer including a conduction section protruding toward the pixel electrode; a relay electrode provided between the substrate and the conductive layer; a first insulating film provided between the substrate and the pixel electrode, the first insulating film having a protrusion protruding toward the pixel electrode and an opening overlapping the relay electrode; and a second insulating film provided between the conductive layer and the pixel electrode; wherein the pixel electrode is electrically connected to the conduction section, and the conduction section is electrically connected to the relay electrode, wherein the protrusion of the first insulating film is pillar-shaped having an upper surface nearest to the pixel electrode, and a pair of side surfaces sloping from the upper surface away from the pixel electrode, and wherein the conduction section of the conductive layer covers the upper surface and the pair of side surfaces of the protrusion.
