<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display that prevents color unevenness, and achieves high visibility, thin profile, and high cost performance. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal panel includes a liquid crystal cell 50 and polarizing plates bonded on both faces of the liquid crystal cell. A light incident side polarizing plate 30 arranged on the side of a backlight 20 of the liquid crystal cell has a polarizing film 31 formed of a polyvinyl alcohol resin, and an optically anisotropic light source-side protection film 32 arranged on the side of the backlight of the polarizing film. The backlight comprises a surface light source 10 and an optically anisotropic optical sheet member 12 that is arranged at a position closest to the liquid crystal panel. The light source-side protective film 32 and the optical sheet member 12 are arranged so that the angle between the slow axis of the light source-side protective film 32 and the slow axis of the optical sheet member 12 is not more than 60 degrees. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
