The URI of a desired content is inputted at S1, and proper solution execution units are selected at S3, referring to the URI inputted. The solution execution units execute processings in parallel. At S4, name resolution is made with reference to a correspondence table in which the identification names of contents are related to the file names on a storage unit. At S6, name resolution is made with reference to the name resolution table data which are transmitted through the MPEG2 section table such as satellite broadcasting. At S8, name resolution is made by communicating with a name resolution service on the network such as the DNS. The name resolution is finished by all the methods, and the location list (L) thus obtained is sent to a content acquisition unit at S10. The content acquisition unit acquires the content designated by the URI, with reference to the list (L).
