PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal cell which prevents the reduction of contrast characteristics.

SOLUTION: An A plate layer 32 having a refractive index between respective indices of a glass substrate 31 having light transmissible properties and a common electrode 34 having light transmissible properties is provided between the glass substrate 31 and the common electrode 34. Fresnel reflection between the glass substrate 31 and the A plate layer 32 and Fresnel reflection between the A plate layer 32 and the common electrode 34 are reduced to compensate visual angle characteristics of a liquid crystal layer 6 and thus reduction of the contrast characteristics can be prevented.
