PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olefinic polymer (PO) good in the dispersibility of polyolefin segments with polar polymer segments. SOLUTION: This olefinic polymer (PO) is characterized by simultaneously satisfying the following requirements (1) to (4). (1) The content of ethylene-derived units (α), the content of units (β) derived from CH<SB>2</SB>=CH-R (R is a 1 to 20C hydrocarbon group), the content of aromatic vinyl compound-derived units (γ), and the total content of (α) + (β) are in specific ranges, respectively. (2) The ratio of the weight fraction of carbon atoms in PO to the total fraction of oxygen atoms and nitrogen atoms is in a specific range. (3) The ratio of two specific range chemical shift areas in a proton NMR spectrum is in a specific range. (4) When PO is treated with an alcohol in the presence of a catalyst, a constant relation establishes among the weight of PO before treated, the weight of a chloroform-insoluble component at room temperature in PO after treated, and the total weight fraction of (α) and (β) in PO before treated.
