PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detection method, an obstacle detection device, and an obstacle detection system capable of accurately detecting obstacles, including pedestrians, irrespective of summer season or during daytime, and reducing the processing amount, as compared with the processing amounts conventionally. SOLUTION: An LSI 31 detects a plurality of edge points in a single photographed image and divides the respective regions surrounding the respective edge points into blocks. The LSI 31 searches the other photographed image and calculates a correlation value by using edge regions that include the edge points of the divided blocks as standard regions. The LSI 31 specifies the region of which correlation value is the largest as a correspondence region, and calculates a parallax between the edge region and the correspondence region. The LSI 31 specifies a candidate region, of which the distance from the photographic device 1 to the subject is substantially equal, based on the calculated parallax. The LSI 31 performs this processing to each region, specifies a plurality of candidate regions, extracts an obstacle candidate region constituted of the specified plurality of candidate regions, and detects an obstacle based on the feature quantity of the extracted obstacle candidate region.
