PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which improves image quality by preventing defective passing of a recording material, and also is made compact and lightweight. SOLUTION: A heating roller 10 and a pressure belt 20 are equipped with grip parts G1 and grip parts G2 at widthwise end parts 12 and 22 of the heating roller 10 and the pressure belt 20 respectively, beyond the passing range of a recording material, each of the grip parts G1 and G2 having a frictional coefficient larger than that of the surfaces of the respective widthwise center parts 11 and 21 of the heating roller 10 and of the pressure belt 20, functioning as the passing range of the recording material. The fixing device is equipped with grip part pressurize parts 6 which are positioned inside the grip parts G2 at both end parts 22 of the pressure belt 20 and pressurize the grip parts G2 of the pressure belt against the grip parts G1 of the heating roller 10. By the above constitution, a frictional resistance between the grip parts G1 of the heating roller 10 and the grip parts G2 of the pressure belt 20 is enhanced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
