PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an illuminating device for a microscope which prevents the efficiency of coupling with an optical fiber from lowering due to deviation of an optical axis occurring on and after a coupling lens. SOLUTION: The illuminating device for a microscope 2 is equipped with: a short pulse laser beam source 5 emitting a short pulse laser beam; a dispersion compensation optical system 6 compensating the dispersion of the short pulse laser beam from the short pulse laser beam source 5; the optical fiber 7 guiding the short pulse laser beam whose dispersion is compensated by the dispersion compensation optical system 6 to a microscope main body 3; a coupling optical system 8 condensing the short pulse laser beam made incident on the core of the optical fiber 7; a beam position correction mechanism 9 adjusting the optical axis of the short pulse laser beam made incident on the core of the optical fiber 7; and a light quantity detector 10 arranged between the emitting end 7b of the optical fiber 7 and the microscope main body 3, and detecting the light quantity of the short pulse laser beam emitted from the optical fiber 7.
