PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system with which a transmission distance is enlarged, or to which a larger number of optical signal receivers are connected.

SOLUTION: The invention is characterized in that a modulation optical signal is informationally replicated via interaction between the modulation optical signal and a probe optical signal from an optical signal processing device or from the optical signal receiver 20, and an optical transmission signal is received with the receiver 20, and simultaneously the modulation optical signal is transmitted to a subsequent optical signal receiver 20, in an optical signal branching device 100 to be inserted into an optical transmission route 70 of the main line side of the optical transmission system and to branch the transmitted modulation optical signal to the optical signal receiver 20.
