<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter, wherein the miniaturization and reduced power consumption are attained even when a plurality of optical transmission modules are loaded. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical transmitter 1, the respective Peltier elements 14 in the plurality of optical transmission modules 10A, 10B, 10C are connected in series to a Peltier element control circuit 20. Thus, even if impedances of individual Peltier elements 14 are low, load resistance of the Peltier element control circuit 20 is sufficiently made large to reduce loss of a circuit. Consequently, in the optical transmitter 1, improved power conversion efficiency of the Peltier element control circuit 20 results in reduced power consumption even when the plurality of optical transmission modules 10A, 10B, 10C are loaded. In addition, in the optical transmitter 1, since one Peltier element control circuit 20 is associated with the plurality of optical transmission modules 10A, 10B, 10C, large size of the transmitter is also avoided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
