PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt-type continuously variable transmission of simple structure capable of previously preventing a fall of a guide rail due to external force such as vibration and an impact not intended by a worker and gravity during the assembling work. SOLUTION: The belt-type continuously variable transmission includes a belt 28 wrapped around a primary pulley 12 and a secondary pulley 22 respectively having a variable pulley groove width, and continuously changes speed by changing a pulley grove width of the primary pulley 12 and the secondary pulley 22. This belt-type continuously variable transmission also includes a guide rail 31 integrally formed with a support shaft 30 fixed to a transmission case 2, a receiver portion 32 formed with a space, into which the belt 28 is to be inserted, and a shaft engagement portion 35 coupled to the receiving portion 32 in a base end thereof and provided with a U-shaped engagement recess 38, in which the support shaft 30 is fitted freely to slide and which is opened in a tip thereof. Engagement protrusions 41 and 42 are provided to form an open end 38c of the engagement recess 38 at a separation distance a little smaller than the outer diameter D of the support shaft 30.
