The device has a controllable clamping and moving arrangement (20) associated with receiving compartments (10) for clamping printed products (100) and for moving the products along a supporting area (14). The support (50) is designed such that a front edge (104) of the products opposite to a folded edge (102) is in direct vicinity at side of the compartment. The arrangement is designed and controllable such that the products are fixed in the region of the lateral edges running perpendicularly to the folded edge before carrying out the trimming and released for transfer of the products. An independent claim is also included for a method for trimming folded printed products on an edge.
