Provided is a pneumatic tire having: a lap-splice section wherein an end of a sheet laminate and the other end of the sheet laminate are superposed and molded, the sheet laminate having laminated therein an elastomer sheet and a thermoplastic resin composition sheet comprising a thermoplastic resin or a thermoplastic resin and elastomer blended product; and excellent durability and no occurrence of phenomena such as releasing of these sheets or the opening of the sheet joining section. Also provided is a production method for the pneumatic tire. In the pneumatic tire having the lap-splice section wherein the end of the sheet laminate and the other end of the sheet laminate are superposed and molded, the sheet laminate having laminated therein the elastomer sheet and the thermoplastic resin composition sheet comprising the thermoplastic resin or the thermoplastic resin and elastomer blended product: (a) a sheet laminate is used that has pasted together therein the thermoplastic resin composition sheet and an elastomer sheet having a greater width in the tire circumferential direction than the thermoplastic resin composition sheet; and (b) an excessive portion of width on at least one side of the elastomer sheet is folded back to the thermoplastic resin composition sheet side and the folded back location is used as the end section of the sheet laminate and overlapped with the other end and molded. |
