REDUCED SIZE FIRE TUBE BOILER SYSTEM

A boiler system having a generally cylindrical housing (12) includes a fire tube (30) with a combustion chamber (32) extending longitudinally near the bottom of the housing (12) and a burner (50) to accomplish combustion within the combustion chamber (32). The combustion chamber (32) opens at its rear end to a tube sheet (36) and to a first set of tubes (40) extending longitudinally of the boiler (10). The first set of tubes (40) extends to and through an inner rear end wall (26) to a turnaround space (46), which transitions to a second set of tubes (44) located above the combustion chamber (32). The second set of tubes (44) generally spans a length extending from the inner rear end wall (26) to the inner front end wall (20). The boiler system as disclosed has a reduced size while maintaining efficiency in steam and hot water applications.
