PURPOSE: A novel complex of platinum(IV) which is useful as an anticancer drug and a method for preparing thereof are provided. CONSTITUTION: The complex of platinum(IV) is represented by the following formula 3 and is selected from the group consisting of a trans, cis-dihydroxo, dichloro-1, 4-butanediamine Pt(IV) complex of the following formula 4, a trans, cis-diacetato, dichloro-1, 4-butanediamine Pt(IV) complex of the following formula 5, a trans, cis-ditrifluoroacetato, dichloro-1, 4-butanediamine Pt(IV) complex, a trans-dihydroxo, malonato-1, 4-butanediamine Pt(IV) complex, a trans-diacetato, malonato-1, 4-butanediamine Pt(IV) complex, and a trans-ditrifluoroacetato, malonato-1, 4-butanediamine Pt(IV) complex. In the formula 3, X is Cl2, malonato, 1, 1-cyclobuthyl-1-dicarboxylato, oxalato or glycolato and each R1 and R2 is -OH, -Cl, -OCOCH3, -OCOCF3 or -OCO(CH2)nCH3(n is an integer of 1-4). The pharmaceutical composition comprises: (i) a compound of the formula 3; and (ii) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The compound of the formula 4 is prepared by: (i) preparing a dichloro-1, 4-butanediamine Pt(II) complex; and (ii) adding 30% H2O2 to the dichloro-1, 4-butanediamine Pt(II) complex.
