<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball-point pen refill that facilitates removal of a protective coating covering a ball and prevents an ink display part provided at the chip front-end from being eliminated. <P>SOLUTION: A ball-point pen refill is configured as follows. A chip front-end part is formed into an almost truncated cone shape such that its diameter is gradually reduced toward the chip front-end. A ball holding chamber is formed on the inner wall of the chip front-end part. A ball is placed on the bottom wall of the ball holding chamber. The edge of the chip front-end part is inwardly caulked to freely rotatably hold the ball. The ball-point pen chip is mounted to an ink storage tube directly or via a chip holder. The ball-point pen refill is formed by directly filling a ball-point pen ink into the ink storage tube. A flat plane is non-circumferentially formed on the outer wall of the chip front-end part to be nearly parallel to the axial center of the ball-point pen chip. An ink color display part having the same color as that of the ball-point pen ink to be filled into the ink storage tube is provided on the flat plane.
